My friend is on probation till 2012.. and got cought with tampering of edivance in a felony case... what kind of time or violation is he looking at... yet when he talked to the dective he said as long as you coperate you should be OK.. what dose that mean

Cops fib all the time. They cannot put this kind of stuff in writing so your "friend" is going to have to trust the cops not to have new charges brought up on the tampering case. 4 years on probation is a long time. Whatever he did sounds like a felony probation vs a misdemeanor probation. He is jeopardizing his probation big time though, I can tell you that. He needs to re-read his sentencing entry and see just how much jail time he would get if his probation was violated. It always clearly states that when you are sentenced.

Depends on the State?

And he actually BELIEVED if he cooperated you "should be okay"? Not a good choice and probably too late to change anything.
