Our 13 year old collie keeps getting very sore pads which puts her out of action for several days. We have tried all sorts to over come this problem. She has a good home cooked diet. And not usually a couch potato. We don't won't to have her put to sleep.she has been a super dog and compaion any idears please . The vets jabs only seem to help short time

You have to be kidding that you would consider putting her 'down' because of her feet. Why don't you get those little booties they sell in pet shops to protect them ? She has a few more years of good times in her yet.

I have heard of people using a product called bag balm on dogs with foot problems... it is sold at walmart and petsmart.

The only problem with the bag balm is that the feet would have to be wrapped up after. It is very thick, like vaseline. It is designed to rub on cows udders to make them more supple for milking. It was actually developed by a Cdn. Dairy farmer from Alberta.
Good also for dry skin and very gentle on the face.
