I am replacing a 3 speed fan switch in my ceiling fan. The new switch has four slots in which to insert the wires into(blue, yellow, white and black). My question is what slots on the switch(1,2,3 and L) does each corresponding colored wire get inserted to? Thanks!

This link (http://www.ceiling-fans-n-more.com/ceiling-fan-pullchain-replacement-and-repair.php) might be helpful, although if you knew which color wire went to the 1,2,3,L positions on your old switch, that would really be useful.

I learned from personal experience several years ago that ceiling fan switches are not universal.

Best of Luck,

Did you not make note of where they went in the old switch?

I've seen that color combination before but don't remember offhand. It might be somewhere on these forums if you search.

This is my only link on the subject:

I found this on one of my other sites:

L: wite wire
1: black wire (power)
2: blue wire (2uF cap)
3: yellow wire (1uF cap)

Don't know if it's correct.
