I'm married and filing for divorse. I just inherited $150,000 from my Godmother who passed away last year. She left a will and I was her beneficiary. Does this half of this money belong to my husband ?

If it goes in a joint bank account its split l/2 and l/2. I would advise not to put it in a bank account yet if you can possibly avoid it.

In NYS - and I don't know where you are - the answer is no - as long as you hold it separate. Once it's in a joint account it CAN - not saying it will - be partially construed as a gift to your husband.

I would definitely ask your Attorney, though.

Normally no it will not, I would keep it separate as noted. Since you are getting divorced anyway, your attoreny will advice you best

NO... inheritance is separate property so it's all yours. Keep the proof that you inherited this $$ and put it in safe place.
