If have just signed an apartment, can I get out of my lease; its has been 72 hours since first signed.. The property was very unsuitable.

If it is 'unsuitable' because you became aware of issues that would not pass building inspection codes then you can get out of it. If it is personal 'unsuitable' reasons then really you can't.

I would say it depends on your definition of unsuitable - too expensive, too dirty, too big, too far away from your job, too dangerous - ?

The 72 hour right of recission is mandated by federal law in credit transactions. Signing a rental lease is not a credit transaction. However, many states have applied the right of recission to other contracts. So you need to check your state laws on that.

Even without a right of recission, you may be able to negate the lease if certain unsuitable factors have come to light after signing the lease. Or the landlord may decide to let you out.
