Hi. I have a WC34-PR water filter installed in my newly purchased home. I purchased a filter for it but I am unsure of how to replace it. It appears that the bottom part (that holds the cartridge) screws off. There is a red button on top of the filter (appears to be something related to pressure). Before I make a mess of things, and since there are no instructions here or online that I could find, I thought I would ask. Is it as sim-le as it looks? If someone could provide me with instructions (any special tools needed?), I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

It should like like this American Plumber WC34-PR Clear Water Filter Housing 152018 (http://www.waterfilters.net/American-Plumber-WC34-PR-Water-Filter-Housing_p_111-1655.html)

The American Plumber WC34-PR housing has a pressure relief button to relieve the water pressure when changing water filters.
The WC34PR water filter housing can be used with a sediment filter to reduce sediment, sand, and silt. The WC34PR filter system can also be used with a carbon filter to reduce chlorine taste and odor.
The American Plumber WC34-PR has 3/4" NPT inlet/outlets.
The American Plumber WC34-PR housing uses 10” L x 2.50” W water filters (http://www.waterfilters.net/culligan/wholehouse/replacement_filters/Wholehouse-10-Inch-Filters.htm).
The American Plumber WC34-PR housing is made by Pentek (Pentair Inc.).
********But yes, the buttom is a pressure release, and the bottom screws off.

Usually you turn the top which turns off the water. Put a buckt under the filter and press the red button. Some water will spurt out to relieve pressure. The filter housing are usually removed with a spaecial wrench. Discard element. Install new one and tighten.

I looked at this site in order to find out if the plastic housing came off by turning clockwise or counter clockwise. Why because the unit on my condo is not marked, and I could not get it to turn in either direction. I finally got the plastic housing off turning counter clockwise [my unit is installed upside down]. Anyhow replaced the filter cartridge, and come to find out it I have to run back to the hardware store to get a new gasket. It is leaking like crazy... need to put vaseline on the new gasket... in order to make it easier to get on and off in the future.
