I have a wet vac that I used to suck out toilet water when I replaced the wax seal on my toilet, however I completely forgot to dump out the water and it left it in the vacuum. I started noticing a rotting smell and didn't understand where it was coming from, when I remembered the wet vac. Indeed, it was the water that was left over in there and when I attempted to dump it out in the tub, there was apparently lint that was in there from a previous use and it prevented the water from draining in there. I sucked it back up and moved the vacuum outside, but I don't know if it's safe to dispose it outside and I have neighbors that are very close that would definitely smell it, and I don't want to inconvenience them with it.
Is there a place that is made specifically for dumping this kind of foul smelling wastewater? Is it illegal to dump it in my yard? If I do dump it in my yard, how can I get rid of the smell faster?
Also, it's been several hours and the smell is still lingering in the bathroom and even the bedroom, despite being hit with plenty of air freshener and the bathroom vent running constantly. I won't be able to sleep in the bedroom tonight. How can I get rid of this smell?
