Hi,
We had all three toilets replaced in our house six months ago following a fire. We have problems with the two upstairs. The plumbing is a mixture of the original house plaumbing and new and the toilet in the bathroom has been moved onto a different wall. The one in our bathroom flushes, fills up with water to a high level and then partially drains but remains higher than normal. After about an hour or so there is a layer of "yellow" stuff in the bottom of the pan with clear water above. It really smells horrible and I've tried bleach, toilet cleaners, vinegar etc. I've had my hand down the u bend and it doesn't feel gritty or blocked. The other toilet upstairs flushes OK but we get an awful smell in the ensuite. We do have air vents/extractor fans in both rooms but if we use them it still smells.
Help before we get into the hot weather!

There is a clog in the line somewhere and it's not right at the spot where you can reach it. Could be further down the line.

Hey Rosie,

The one in our bathroom flushes, fills up with water to a high level and then partially drains but remains higher than normal. Did this happen from day one or has it just started? If it's been going on since it was installed I may have the solution.

After about an hour or so there is a layer of "yellow" stuff in the bottom of the pan with clear water above. I don't understand this. Tell me more.

The other toilet upstairs flushes OK but we get an awful smell in the ensuite. this could be a faulty wax seal that's holding water but not the sewer gas.
Let me hear back from you, Tom
