I bought a Craftsman lawn Tractor 24HP, 42" Mower Electric Start Model No. 917.287251. Used it last summer with no problems. Ran it out of gas at the end of season last year so it was empty all winter. Tried to use it this year and nothing. Turned the key and got nothing. Replaced the battery and put new fuel in tank. Engine turns over but won't start. Checked fuel line and it is free flowing till at least the carburetor. Engine will start with fuel put in from top until that fuel is burned up. Unfortunately, I am having difficulty getting to the carburetor to check for dirt/blockage. Engine is showing classic signs of not getting any fuel. Is there anything a.k.a. carburetor cleaner or starter fluid that can be put in from the top that would remove/dissolve any dirt etc. safely that possibly might be there? Tractor was run for 24 hours total since bought brand new. Grass is getting higher every day that this will not run... Thanks in advance for any help.

I am afraid if it is acting like you say, the only solution is going to be from removal of the carb and give it a thourough cleaning.
