The most common problem is that the water inlet tube gets frozen. I've been known to take a hair dryer (on low) and try to heat up this tube to allow water to flow again. Sometimes it is tricky to get in there close enough to thaw the tube without thawing your TV dinners ;) .
I've also "fixed" an icemaker before by just unplugging it for a few hours. There should be a connector somewhere in the vicinity of the icemaker itself. If you can completely remove it from the freezer, this would be best (so the icemaker can thaw). This won't solve the frozen tube problem, but might address a "frozen icemaker" problem.
Best of Luck,

I have a whirlpool refrigerator and ice maker. Noticed a couple of days ago my ice maker was not making any ice. My water dispenser works fine.
