My cats upper eyelid is swollen with a little bit of draining what could this possibly be?

Could be a scratch on his/her eye, could be allergies, or it could be a virus. My cat had the same thing for a few weeks, and we had to use antibiotic drops in his eye. The vet never said what it was, but whatever it was the drops took care of it in about 3 days.
