OK hi I am new to this site and I also have a question which I hope can be answered.

I am from canada, alberta and recently have been charged with theft over 5000 and break and enter.
I was not a home, but a garage.

I did not break and enter, but I was with the (two) accused at the time of arrest, inside the place with stolen goods, which I did not knew existed. And some ones sibling said I helped in order to help make the charges so bad on their brother.

This is my first offence.
There were two others arrested.
All stolen goods have been returned by one of the arrested.

What could be the minimum possible sentence,
Also, what could be the maximum sentence?

Also, how bad are canadas jails lol:rolleyes:

Time for a good attorney,

Probation would be min
About 5 years max ( nor likely on first offense)

So is it possible if the other two plead guilty and I don't, that I could still possibly go to jail for over a year?

Or is that too hard to answer and decide like this :P

It is very possible that one of the other two will even make a deal naming you and get a lot less sentence for testifying against you, who cares if they lie, do you think they would mind lying to save a year or two in jail?

A lot depends on what evidence they have against you that will be allowed in court. Being caught with the "goods" is one crime all into itself

But how strong is the evidence and if you go though a trial, will you be found guility, but often ( very often) you serve less time if you plea bargain before, than if you are found guilty latter.

Sorry I forgot to say one more thing,
I was not actually arrested there, but there was a witness who said I was. The cops came to my house and just arrested me.

If that does not really change anything than thanks for your help lol
