I have a daughter who is 4 years old. Her father has not seen her since she was about a year old. She doesn't remember him at all. He has wanted, since we started filing for divorce (which is now final and done with) to renounce his parental rights. I feel that that would be best for her considering his extreme disinterest, mental instability and the abusiveness that he is capeable of. I've looked all over the internet and the law libraries and I have found a few documents but I'm not sure that they are the right ones. Does anyone know exactly what forms I will need for this and where there are?

Even if he signed away his rights, he most likely would still be responsible for child support.
Texas Vital Statistics – Paternity Frequently Asked Questions (http://www.dshs.state.tx.us/vs/reqproc/faq/paternity.shtm) -the form should be on this site somewhere.

Yes seldom in Texas will the judge grant him to give up his rights either, but if they do, there is still child support obligations,

Well when the divorce was finalized, he wasn't ordered to pay child support. That is what I asked for and the judge didn't argue it. He just said "ok". She's being supported by myself and my fiance' so she's perfectly taken care of. I just want to make sure that I'm not going to go to court and get thrown out because the paperwork is wrong or something.

While he is not ordered to pay, lets say you and your child would have to get state welfare, the state can go after him for you.
But most likely it does not get approved, but then maybe you get a judge who does not support children's rights

mommyto4,
Were you able to find any additional paper work? I have tried looking via the internet and the law library in Dallas, TX but I guess I am not looking in the right place.
