OK I just had a baby Friday and when I go for my six week check up they are giving me the iud and I was wondering does it hurt and will I be allowed to drive or will some one else have to take me??

When I had mine put it, a Paraguard, they told me to take 800mg of ibuprofen. Which I took an hour before my appointment. So for me personally it didn't hurt at all. There was some cramping later that day, but nothing that more ibuprofen didn't take away. Since they didn't give me any pain medication I could drive myself home. But the nurse did tell me to wait a few minutes to make sure I wasn't light headed.
