Tell me if you think this is real or not. I am selling a wedding dress on craigslist and this is one of the offers I got. My e-mails are bold.. I can't decide if it is real or not, but I'm a little skeptic of having to ship.

Hey.I view the posting of your dress,I need it for my sister urgently and I will pay your asking price, let me know the size and if it without stain, hope to hear from you soon. Thanks

Hi, there are no stains, I literally bought this dress maybe two weeks ago. I love it, but i found something else I love better. It has only been tried on, never altered, and has been sitting in my closet in the plastic covering. I have only taken it out to take those pictures. The hanger says it's a size 12, but I think it may be smaller then that like anywhere from a 8-10. You can call me at 575-***-**** if you would like to meet somewhere so you can see it. Thanks

Thanks for the reply,I will buy the dress and I will pay the asking price but I will not be able to look at it now because of my tight schedule,I will like you to send it to my sister via ups and I hope she will love it,I will be responsible for the cost of sending it.I will like to make my payment with a company check that will be sent to you via UPS next day delivery.however, you will have to send the difference of the cheque to the wedding planner.I will need your name, valid contact address and phone number to mail the check to you by today or tomorrow via ups next day delivery .Please proceed to delete the advert from craigslist. Thanks

Do not reply to this ad. I do not believe it is worthy! Never give out any personal info. Good luck and be safe!:)

It's a scam - the check will be counterfeit, and so you'll end up being out both the dress and the excess cash he wants you to send. This is a well-known scam, often involving bogus cashiers checks. The counterfeit may be so good that your bank will accept the check, but then 3 weeks later they notify you that it turned out to be fake and they make you reimburse them. Insist that this person pay via Paypal, and I bet you don't hear anything from this guy again.

I've had similar responses with craigslist...

Don't give your info... send her an email that says you're willing to meet her at a neutral location (mall, etc.) between where the two of you are located and exchange check/dress then.

That has taken care of it for me...

You're right to question this! Good job! :)

Even craigslist tells you to deal with local sales only.

It is a scam.

Local Cash Sale.

That is the only way to protect yourself.

Yeah I e-mailed backand said I need cash only and that I have to get it before I send the dress... I haven't gotten a response back. Thanks. I've gotten plenty of fraud e-mails but notlike this before. Thanks so much for responding!

One more thing - note the poor grammar, the use of British spelling such as "cheque," and the word "advert" - I bet this guy is not local, even though you ran the ad on Craigslist.

Craiglist tells you to deal with cash only circumstances. I am so glad that you did not given into this! Smart smart smart!
