I live in a 4 unit apartment building. I have a few questions.
A little over a year ago the landlord who lives in the building said that my toilet was leaking into the basement area, which is her down stairs, TV room. Well she has another leak in the ceiling and she is saying that it is the same area of the ceiling so must be coming from my apartment bathroom again.
**my question is if this is an apartment building would all the pipes from all the units come together to be able to know for certain that it was from my apartment or are their separate pipes that would show which apartment has the problem?
**how do I know that it is directly coming from my apartment?
**also the person she had fix the original leak said that there is now copper tubing and that it should not be leaking so must be something I have done, besides flushing not sure what I could have done if it is actually coming from my apartment so could he have done something wrong the first time as well like not sealing something?

ALL pure speculation on your landlords part. Until the leak is bared no one knows what's leaking or from whose unit it's coming from. But so what? This is a rental unit isn't it? If the leak isn't caused by something you've done then it's the landlords responsibility to have it repaired. Good luck, Tom

I agree, gad she is making it sound like the leaks in her property are your fault and she already had a plumber do repairs. I'm not liking her already. Like Tom says, its all her responsibility. Maybe she just doesn't understand plumbing and is naïve and not a meanie.
