Can anyone help me with a pretty bad quality problem? My canon MP600 has been through all of the maintenance tests and still prints an extremely grainy, almost reverse (like a negative) photo on glossy paper. It seems to be particular to dark colors. The lighter colors appear normal. I've put in new ink cartridges and cleaned everything with the maintenance program and no change. Still terrible. I like this printer but it prints lousy color photos.

First step is to make sure you are using the correct paper.
Ink Jet printers have to use paper that absorbs ink into the paper. Whereas, laser or impact paper is quite different. Laser printer, uses paper that can tolerate the high heat of the fuser to melt the toner onto the paper.
If you are using laser paper on an ink jet printer you will get blobs of ink running together.
Also, make sure you have selected the correct paper setting on your printer for the paper you are using.

As long as you have ink jet "Photo Grade" paper, you should be fine.
