My mower stops cutting on its own, and will not start cutting again until started up again only to stop cutting again a few minutes later.  :

It's probably losing spark. That you will have to check. Remove plug. Hold bottom to block and watch for spark. In air the spark is less intense, but it should be there. Check when it works, so you know what to look for and then when it doesn't.

If it is true that it's losing spark then the coil is first suspect, followed by electronic ignition module.

If it's points based then coil, points or cap are possibilities. Coil or cap most likely cause.

The problem is thermal and that can lead to a number of suspects.

Does it stop cutting or does the engine stop running, this is two different things. KISS is correct, I would suspect the coil heats up and not longer boosts the spark.

Yep, could be the coil getting hot.

Your other issue could be a carb bowl that is to full of crud. A small amount of gas gets past the needle, just eniough to run for a few moments and then it starves the engine. OOnce the engine dies anew small amount of gas has seeped past the needle and its alive again but just for a few moments.

It does need spark plugs but the engine does not die.Someone told me it could be the electric clutch.could that be it.

It would be nice if you answered ballengerb1's question instead of PMing me with the same response as above.

DOES IT STOP CUTTING or DOES THE ENGINE STOP RUNNING?
