I am planning to replace my old RiteTemp thermostat with a wireless one, tentatively Venstar T1100REC. I have an oil furnace for baseboard heating only. There are only two wires W and R coming out of the wall connected to my old thermostat. I measured the voltage between W and R and there is 27VAC (not sure it is from the battery of old thermostat or from the transformer on the furnace). Can I just connect those two wires to the Venstar wireless thermostat? Will it work? Please anyone give me advice before I buy the Venstar thermostat. Thanks.
