For exact measurements go to the compressors manufactures web site and look up the compressor. There will be much more info there besides the megger test requirements.

First of all there is no such thing as a megaohm. The unit is megohms and stands for 1 e6 ohms.

So where and how are we measuring this quantity? How should you properly measure it? What is it called when properly measured?

I think this is homework. Prove me wrong.

I will give the kid a break. But you are probably correct it is home work. LOL

You run a "megger" ohm test on the compressor windings (to ground)
To check for insulation breakdown.. good should be over 100
Megaohms.. If less than 50-60 megaohms, then insulation may
Be damaged with a "burnout" failure to soon follow.

The rest of your questions you will have to look up for yourself. That is what it is all about.
