I had similar problems with mY Civic 91 Hatchback (probably the same as yours)... it was an electricdal problem... something was short and my battery nodes were touching hood draining a hell lot of charge... that would cause my car stall when I hit the brakes, lights ON or reverse gear (with lights)...

Test/replace the Ignition Control Module.
