Given the name of a binary molecular compound, describe how to write its formula. Use carbon tetrachloride
As an example.

You determine the formula of compounds by using the prefix that is put in front of the element. In this case Carbon has no prefix therefore you know there is just one. Tetra is the prefix meaning 4 therefore there are 4 chlorine atoms. Finally the formula is CCl4. One Carbon and four Chlorines. The prefixs for naming molecular compounds are as follows: di- (2), tri- (3), tetra- (4), penta- (5), hexa- (6), hepta- (7), octo- (8) and so on

Hope this helped!!!
