Are gift cards too impersonal??

My boyfriend and I have been dating for two months. Valentine's is in two days. I'm seventeen, but he's my first boyfriend and I'm completely lost on what to get him. I've never shopped for a boy before! *panics*

So basically, what I'm wondering is... What are appropriate gifts to HIM from a HER who's completely new to the dating scene and is afraid to move too fast? Are gift cards to impersonal? How personal should I be this early in *my first* relationship?

I don't think they are, if you can get a nice one that's blank inside you can make it personal by adding your own vs etc... Don't panic this guy went for you! Not what you can get him.
