I was just given a justice court citation for old credit card debt that I incurred with a old boyfriend. I am now married and do not work. What do I do? I did not receive anything in the mail in regards to going to be sued. I live in Texas. What do I do?

What state was the debt incurred in? That would make a difference. Again, it depends on how old the debt is, whether your name is on the credit card, etc.

I'm not very familiar with Texas law, what does a Justice Court Citation say?

Is it notice to appear for a trial or hearing?

Is it a notice of intent to sue, that requires you to respond as to weather you will defend
The claims or not?

If you could give a little more detail, as PJAMOK requested as well, we may be able to give you a better answer or opinion.

I took a student loan from a bank. I was paying on it until I lost my job. I asked the bank to defer the payment until I secure a job, the answer I got was we will send it to collection. Now I receive a citation what can I do. It is in Texsas Williamson county.

The loan was taken in 2003. I have been making monthly payments until I lost my job. I attempted to call the bank for defral and other arrngements but I was tol it will be sent to collection. Now I get a citation from a Willamson county court in Texas. What can I do?

You can respond to the Summons (which I would assume was served on you - ?) with an Answer, a defense. The creditor does not have to work with you; however, the creditor may take a Judgment just to protect its interest and then work out payments with you knowing that if you default on the payments they already have a Judgment in place.
