I can tell you for sure that water is not going to dry up anytime soon and it can eventually give you respiratory problems, and your dogs as well. Your landlord has to be made to take care of the problem. I suggest you call the landlord/tenant association and ask them what is the best procedure to deal with this unhealthy situation.

Mold can adversely affect you health in a hurry leaving you with several different mystery diseases. If I were you I would try and break my lease and move the blank out of there in a hurry. Mold will permeate everything that you own as well. Like your furniture and clothes for starters. When you do move (as you will find that landlord does not want to spend the money to professionally clean it up) please wash and rewash your clothes at least 4 or 5 times in detergent and hot water to kill the mold spores on the fabrics. Furniture with fabric seats or couches made of fabric might not be salvageable if left in the home too long and gets contaminated with the spores.

My neighbors called the local building inspector when they had a problem similar to yours. Often the building inspector handles complaints of this nature. They are also aware of any previous complaints on the same property. Someone has got to know, otherwise the landlord gets away with it.
