Hi
I am here in US from march 2007. I am married and my wife and son are in India. Still I didn't bring them here.In my W-2 statement, the W-4 profile says that the Taxable marital status is SINGLE.
So I need answer for the following questions
1. Whichof the Filing status I need to select (Single, Married filing seperatly,Married filing jointly)
2. If I need to select Married, is it must my wife should be here with me in US?
3. My employer is in NJ state and my pay roll is generated in NJ. But currently I am working in Client base in PA. Do I need to specify this?
4. Currently I am staying in PA which is different address mentioned in W-2 statement. So what address I need to give in the address column?

Hope you understand the questions and reply soon.

1-2. You can file resident tax return as Married Filing Jointly.
You will get standard deduction of $10,700 and exemptions for both of you and the son.

You must both declare your worldwide income for 2007. If you have any foreign income, and on that income you paid taxes in the foreign country, then you can claim foreign tax credit.

You will complete forms W7 (application for ITIN) for your spouse and children and attach with your tax return.

3. If you live in PA, you must file PA state return. If you never lived or worked in NJ and your employer deducted taxes for NJ, you will file NJ return to get refund of the taxes withheld. Tell your employer to stop withholding NJ taxes.

4. No it makes no difference. On your return give your current address.

Thanks for your kind reply
Still I need to clarify the following questions...
Still I haven't bring my wife and son here. I am planning to apply H4 for them next month. Is it possible we can apply W7 ,if my wife and son in India?
My employer is in NJ and I am working under him only. But I have to work in different client locations for 3 or 6 months. If that is the case,I need to file for each state?

Thanks in advance
