I have been on nefidipine over a number of years due to essential hypertension. However for the past few days my BP has gone up and Doctors have prescribed the following medications.
Amlodipine-10mg OD at 8 AM
Atenlol-50mg OD at 8 AM

Telmisartan-40mg OD at 7 PM
Prazosin Hydrochloride-2.5 mg at bed time.

Ecosprin-150mg OD

Right from the time I started on this combination therapy , I am suffering from severe constipation. Earlier I never had a problem of constipation. Is this development due to Amlodipine or due to Telmisartan. What remedy do I have to overcome this problem of constipation.

One of the common side effects of amlodipine is constipation... and although constipation does occur as a side effect from telmisartan, it's rare... chances are, your cocktail + amlodipine is adding onto it.

In most cases, your body will adjust to the medication and the constipation will wind down.

To prevent constipation, maintain a diet adequate in fiber, drink plenty of water, and exercise.

If the constipation is severe, either call the clinic or call the pharmacist to help you acquire a stool softener.
