Question 1:
I have new sheetrock installed and I want to know when to apply primer. Do I apply primer before I texture, after I texture, or before and after texturing? I've heard different things from different people.

Question 2:
Should I use a water based or oil based primer. I'm going to use knockdown texture in one room and a venetian plaster look in another.

Question 3:
Also, do I need to apply one coat of texture for knockdown texturing or spray it twice?

Question 4:
I'm using simple joint compound to create the venetian plaster look. Is there anything I should know? Do I water it down, etc?

Thanks,

Schmidt

Primer with water based primer first. You can use drywall mud for texturing in your plaster look room but do not water it down. For the knockdown, spray only once.
