:confused:I am using a Magnavox model #MWR 20V6 DVD recorder/Video Cassette recorder to burn DVD's from my old VCR tapes . These are personel tapes shot with a Sony video camera and then transferred to VCR cassettes. There's no copyrighted movies---- the "do not erase" tabs are still on the cassettes.
I have tried 2 tapes and each one will run 12-14 minutes and then everything shuts down with an on-screen messege reading "This tape not authorized to be copied." The 12-14 minutes on the disc are fine----it just won't go any farther. I have played both tapes all the way thru and they are good.
Ay suggestions?
Thanks , Prairie Son:o

Please refer to the manual for the model and see why you are getting the error code or call Magnavox and let them tell you.
"In theory" this process should work fine.

I found out that it's best to use two machines, one VHS/DVD player and a VHS/DVD recorder. I bought a cheap player at WalMart, $45, and with a device called a Video Stabilizer, model VT100, available from RNJ Electronics, (800) 645-5833, to do the transfers. The Stabilizer was $26 when I got it and I transferred aver 150 VHS tapes to DVD successfully. Hope this helps.

Try hooking up a dvd stand alone player to the combo with rca plugs to make copies, it may bypass the copy protection and let the dvd recognize the tape.
Also check the magnavox home site to see if there is any firmware upgrades
