I have a Kenmore #23832100 washer. I washed a load and then on the second load it started making a loud hum when the rinse cycle started. I unplugged it and turned it on its side. I can see the belt is still on and I can turn the rotor. What is my next step? What do I remove if at all and where Do I get a replacement if needed?

Check the coupler located between the motor and transmisison. Easiy to fix and cost is about $35.00

First of all : Note that it is essential to remove the power lead from the wall socket and put the cable on the floor in front of you BEFORE servicing the appliance : safety first!
.
Note that of course it may be needed to connect the washer to the water outlet and power to check it's operation.
.
If you have problems finding the problem, just turn the washer around, so that you can see what is going on, and switch the machine on. Careful from this moment onwards : the machine is electrical "hot"!
.
Try to find what is happening when you hear that loud hum (note : do not keep this continuing too long, to prevent damage!
- does the motor tries to turn?
- does the belt slip?
- is the drum stuck?

If you have answers to these questions and still need advice, please let me know.
