So, I took four pills of emergency contraceptive this month. I also started new birth control this month. This started at the beginning of March. It's now the beginning of April and I have had the worst stomach in the world for a week and a half STRAIGHT now, so bad that I have skipped the gym for two weeks. I've sat in the bath for three hours because of the pain. I thought that maybe it was an appendicitis, but my side isn't hurting. Then I figured it must be from the emergency contraceptive. I've heard that it can be dangerous to take. I've also been on my period for the whole time. Very lightly, but it's brown.

What is going on with me?

I've also had a headache the whole time, like a horrible migraine that feels like my brain is too big for my skull and it's trying to opush its way out...

1. EC... isn't good for you, but females take it because they have to. The fact that you took 4 in 30 days, will definitely screw with your system left and right.

2. While your hormones were completely lopsided due to the crazy amount of EC in your system, you started BC. Again, not a wise choice and I hope you told your doctor about your EC intake before you got BC. If you did, and your doc still prescribed you BC... I'm skeptical of this doctor, as they should have been a bit more cautious. If you didn't, I suggest you call your doc and tell him/her about it.

Overall, at this moment, your hormones are over-the-top off balance, and this can give you all sorts of side effects... heavy bleeding, cramps, and migraines are actually part of those side effects.

If you're in that much pain, go back to your doctor, and let the know you're experiencing these problems. In the mean time, a heat pack will help you alleviate some pain... if you don't have a heat pack, fold up a small towel to fit inside a zip-loc bag... then put some water in there (enough to soak up the towel), and then while the zip-loc is open, put it in the microwave for about 15 - 30 seconds. Then use it as a heat pack.

1. The same doctor gave me the EC, and knew how far apart I'd be taking them. It's two pills per "session". So I took two different sets of EC in one month.

2. This was also the same doctor that gave me the birth control. This is at planned parenthood. I don't have health insurance or money for a doctor.

3. So, heavy bleeding, migraines, and cramps for 9+ days is normal?

4. I have a heating pad I can use, but didn't think about it. Good idea.

As far as heavy bleeding, migraines, and cramps being "normal"... no, not really...

The side effects of EC + BC are far from few... and they're all very very varied. They include:

Bleeding
Nausea
Numbness in extremities
Headaches
Chest pain
Abdominal pain
Shortness of breath
Dizziness
Blurred vision

So on and so forth

If you are having any of these symptoms in a severe manner, call the clinic.

I can't call them on Sunday, they are not open. Otherwise I'd be at their doorstep.
