I recently had a situation where the condo above me was flooded, which subsequently leaked down into my kitchen walls, ceiling, etc. Obvious damage, but not major at first glance. At first, all of my electricity in apartment worked fine. The first that went was an outlet that the disaster relief crew plugged a huge fan and humidifier into. It popped, but the other outlets on that circuit worked fine for a while. I plugged the fan and my refrigerator (which used to be plugged into the outlet that went bad) into an outlet in the bathroom. After about 24 hours I came home to find that my kitchen overhead light, my livingroom overhead light, my bathroom light, my bathroom outlet are now all dead. I have not begun testing anything, but none of my breakers were comprimised, as on each circuit some items still work while others do not. Any ideas about what might be going on here? I believe I have a fair enough understanding of electrical circuts, but I'm miffed by the fact that some outlets/lights on the circuts are working and others aren't.

A breaker may be tripped but not thrown, Check the GFI in Bathroom will trip and reset.
If it won't reset, Have qualified person check for voltage to line side of GFI, replace if necessary. Reset and see if it restores lighting.
