My van is a 1999 Grand Voyager SE. Lately, it seems when it rains, it doesn't start on the first turn of the key. It takes probably 4 or 5 tries until the engine kicks over. When it does not start, there is no sound. Then it finally tries and, next shot, it catches. I am trying to figure out the cause. I have had other vehicles where the starter failed but this is different somehow. By the way, when it does finally start, it will start every time that day! Any ideas will be appreciated!

Try changing the rotor and cap to see if that helps. Sounds like you have moisture somewhere in the electrical system for it to act like that. Also how old is your starter on this car? That could be going also. Some starters take longer to die than others and act nutty right before they die.

Help us out a little here. When you say it won't start, do you mean the starter doesn't engage and the engine doesn't crank? Or do you mean it cranks but won't fire up. Also, please tell us which engine you have. The 3.0L has a distributor, the 3.3 & 3.8 do not.

The engine does not crank until it suddenly starts! The engine is a 3.3L. There is no distributor.
