Not too long ago our family home videos were transferred from VHS to DVD. Now I would love to get screencaptures or stills from these videos and have them printed as photographs. How can I do that?

I used to have a Dell computer with PowerDVD that made it easy, but I've got an HP Pavilion now.

Is there some safe freeware that would help me do this?

Any advice would be appreciated.:) Thank you!

They new PC I assume did not come with anything like the power dvd huh? You MIGHT try download.com and type in what you want and See what's there. Do you know anyone with a copy of power dvd? Should work on your new PC as well.

Im not sure if the built in movie maker in XP will allow screen captures. But I'm sure there is something out there. Try Download.com some of that stuff is shareware, some of it you buy. You get free trials but on those a lot of them won't unlock the FULL program for saving files etc...
