How do you convert 5.5 grams of salicylic acid C7H6O3 to moles of salicylic acid?

Molecular weight (grams/mole) = mass (grams)/ amount (moles)

Just rearrange and plug in the numbers. Remember to use the correct units.

You can find the molecular weight by googling or in an exam by using the periodic table to add up the atomic weights.

A good way to remember the formula is :

Mass (in grams) = Mr. Mole

where Mr. = relative molecular mass
and Moles = number of moles of element
