I got really drunk and had unprotected sex with my boyfriend but we used the withdrawal method. So I went to the nurse at school and got the day after pill, and I take antibiotics. Can the antibiotics make the pill defective?

There is no such thing as a withdrawal method, there are plenty of sperm in all of the pre-fluid to get pregnant.

The day after pill ( also which one) is not 100 percent effective just on its own. But it is all and the best you can do at this point and time.

And as a personal note, schools give out this pill??

Ya, I had to go to the nurse and she gave me the pill, they give out condoms and pragnancy tests too. But do you know if my antibiotics with cancel out the day after pill?

Your antibiotics will change the way that your birth control works... including the morning after pill. I am not sure if they cancel the BC out but I do know that if you are on antibiotics, and the pill that you need to use another form of birth control. If you are having sex you need to be on some type of birth control, unless of course you want a baby, the morning after pill is just a backup, and withdrawing is not considered birth control. Unprotected sex can not only lead to STDS but also you getting pregnant... maybe it is time for you to look into other forms of birth control, from the sounds of it, you are under 18... therefore most towns have a clinic that will give you birth control for free.

Some antibiotics can affect the absorption of the estrogen componants of birth control pills. The can also affect the pharmacokinetics (how you body proesses the drug) of progesterone.

You did not state which morning after pill you took or which antibiotics. Also other drugs (even herbal remadies) can affect this drug.

Also you individual way of processing the drugs (we vary more than the drug companies like to admit) will affect the outcome.

Go to you pharmacist/doctor and tell them everything you are they should be able to give you a clearer picture of the chances.

However as it has already happened I think your best bet is to try not to worry- wait and see, and learn about better methods of contraception as suggested above.

Yes Jesi, nothing on you, I am just really against the morning after pill being given out without having to see a doctor. For reasons like this,
And 100 percent don't believe they should be done in public schools with tax dollars, sorry not your fault on that.

But with some of the side effects, if you had a reaction to this pill, which would have been given without parent consent, then the parent is stuck with your medical bills. I just don't believe in giving minors medical treatment without their parents permission.
