Crikey, its hard to explain, there must be a word for it but I don't know it...
Have you ever seen a poem that actually looked to be in the shape of a bridge when written down? Or a never ending circle ? I am sure the text is also relevant to the shape... such as a stairway shape and the words are basically about climbing the stairs too.. please could somebody enlighten me either on the name of it... or some examples of some written already... Thanks in advance... Emma x

There are quite a few examples of shape poems if you click on the following link.

I have just found that this sort of thing might also be called concrete poetry, pattern poetry, shape poetry or visual poetry.

An explanation of it is on the following site. Concrete poetry - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Concrete_poetry)

Here is a very simple example of something that I just did using the program WordArt in Microsoft Word. I'm sure that there could be many more things created with that program and that there are other programs which will do similar things and more. I have never created this type of shape before using words.

It just takes some fooling around and practice with the programs that you might already have on your computer!

Is there a particular poem that you might want to have made into some kind of art?
