I am an international student. I was doing my post graduate degree in Florida. However I was in California for 3 months on an internship. So I need to file 540NR short for CA state tax. I am not sure about what/how to fill in under the Residency section of this form.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

You report dates of CA residency from... to... (your 3 months period)

But if I fill in the CA residency from and to dates then wouldn't I be considered as a CA resident for that period. Since I am on a F-1 visa I know that I am considered as a non-resident alien for Federal tax purposes at least. So I was planning on doing something like this:

Leave state of residence AND CA residency sections empty. Fill in the country of domicile section with my home country name.

Please correct me if I am wrong.
