I would like to find the value of two pieces from the "Paris Etching Society - NY" of two steeple chase sceens signed by "Louis Claude".

Label on the rear has a code of B/29 on one of them, labeled original etching by Claude and titled Steeplechase.

In the lower left hand corner, there seems to be a code SLZ inside of a circle as well.

We have had the pieces for close to 40 years and the previous owner had them for some time but I don't know how long.

Does the etching that you have resemble the style of the artist that you will find on the following link? Signed 1940's French Artist, LOUIS CLAUDE -"Grand National" - FAE-104 (http://www.rubylane.com/shops/melange-art/item/FAE-104) The artist who is listed there is Louis Claude.

The first work that you should see on the site is one that as listed as being worth $395.00. Perhaps you have one by that same artist? If the style is the same, you probably do have one by that same artist.

I find after checking inventory that I also have a companion print dated 1954 and titled "Sous au Bauk" which is also by Louis Claude. This depicts similar horses jumping right to left over a board fence and moat. If you are interested in both, please let me know. I can give you a break in pricing on the pair. They do make a fine display if placed on the wall facing each other.
