I have a 1995 Chevy Caprice and sometimes it 'hesitates' a little, especially on acceleration. Yesterday it did it again after I left the gas station,it's a Sunoco station I visit regularly. Perhaps there was something like water in the gas or something. I had a fuel pump replacement a year or two ago but I wonder if they could go bad that fast. I forget sometimes to keep the tank at least 1/4 as recommended so as not to damage the pump, but I wonder now if there might be some damage to it.
At the same time, when I turned on my a/c the car also started to sound rough. I don't know if something else is starting to break down or what.

Have your throttle position sensor checked and/or replaced. That should take care of the tip-in hesitation during acceleration. However, you may want to have the fuel pressure and fuel volume tested to make certain fuel delivery isn't the issue.

Regarding the A/C noise, you may be in the early stages of compressor failure. Have that checked by your local mechanic so as to not cause contamination to the remainder of the A/C system.

I hope this helps.

Installing new spark plugs (ACDelco only) may help eliminate the hesitation. I recommend replacing platinum plugs at least every 50,000 miles. If the plug wires and fuel filter have never been changed, I would replace them.

That's another thing in itself, tuneups are expensive for mine because they have to take out the water pump and things to get to the wires and distributor.
