Why would she accept that?
Why shouldn't she tell him it's bothering her?

Like tell her what to do, who to see and who to hang out with.

Uh.. that's what I call a dictator.
In all seriousness, that isn't right. However, the girl should speak up for herself. She has rights to hang out with who she likes and do what she wants.
This isn't a relationship, this is just a guy trying to show that he's "tough" and "cool".

OK. How old are the two? How serious is the relationship?
Any relationship in which one party feels like they don't have control over their own lives... is a bad relationship. If I were her friend, I'd tell her to ditch the loser.

Then the boyfriend is a control freak and abuser of sorts. What happens when she gets tired of him controlling her and does as she pleases? Yes sooner or later she will tire of it. Then will he smack her back into line to regain that control? Better to deal with it now than later. Better yet she needs to figure out why in the world she is attracted to someone like that.

As much as I don't condone abuse, I think that that word is thrown FAR too lilghtly around these days. Does the guy REALLY control the girl, or is he just being honnest with his misgivings about certain people... does he ACTUALLY stop her from seeing anyone or doing anything? There exists a fine line... ive seen it.. ive done it I know.
But to say that one like that is an abuser is a bit extreme without all the details.
