I only knew him for a month when I married him after we married he showed symptoms of depression and acted very posessive the fights never ended until feb. 25th we argued bad then we calmed down a bit I told him this could no longer work (meaning the marriage) that's when he decided to get up walk to the kitchen and cut his left arm near his hand twice! He showed me and the blood freaked me out I became scared of him I knew he was just doing it for attention I told him I had to take him to the hospital and he refused. He became agitated at my blank stare and started to question me again, he would touch my shoulder I pulled away and told him I wanted to leave he got super mad blocked me from the door and we struggled so I could leave I accidentally scrached his neck and he called the cops. I received a citation and now have a court date for battery on spouce! I've never been in trouble before so what should I expect?? I'm super scared but I did nothing wrong he just decided to get me in trouble cuzz he could not be man enough to let me go. Oh did I mention he is a marine? But the citation was given by the us marshalls

It you can't afford a lawyer, go to the nearest university - law department, and ask for legal assistance.
Discuss with them what you have to do. Make a list of all points you want to mention during the court session. Try to collect proof for your version of what happened.
Prepare yourself to defend your actions.
Anyone you know who can support your side of the story, and/or who will stand up for you?

I agree. You did nothing wrong. Plead not guilty. Don't talk to them. If they don't drop the charges, hire a lawyer.

PS> Let me reiterate - DON'T TALK TO THEM

No, Law School won't help you. If you can't afford an Attorney try your local Legal Aid, try a battered women's group, call your Bar Association.

And keep yourself safe!

It will be your word against his and it sounds like he has problems which the Court will be able to see.
