View Full Version : Thinking about Lasik.

I'm going to the eye doctor tomorrow to see if I'm a good candidate for lasik. My hubby had it done around 5 months ago and swears by it, he now has 20/20 vision.

My problem is that I don't like anyone touching my eyes. I understand why you have to be awake during the surgery, and hubby told me that it doesn't hurt, it's just uncomfortable, but boy would I feel better about it if they could just knock me out while they do it.

My question; Has anyone else had it done? What was your experience? Did you find it painful, and if so, was it worth it in the end?

I'm really nervous, but also excited. I'm sick of wearing glasses.

Any advice would be appreciated.

What they don't tell you is that they can only correct one. Distance or reading, but not both. Unless that is you have one eye done for distance and the other for reading. Yea right! If you have thick glasses like my wife did, then it was a great investment. She now has thin reading glasses . If you want it for vanity, then to me it is a lot of money. Also depending on your age, it may or may not be a good idea.

You'll be fine, Altenweg. It's a very safe procedure. You will get all the information that you need and want. And I'm sure after that you will be very comfortable that you have made the right decision for you, whatever decision you make.

If you have any other questions, let me know. I work in a laser eye center, and assist in the surgery every day.
