This site is devoted to the monitoring of the misleading numbers that rain down on us via the media. Whether they are generated by Single Issue Fanatics (SIFs), politicians, bureaucrats, quasi-scientists (junk, pseudo- or just bad), such numbers swamp the media, generating unnecessary alarm and panic. They are seized upon by media, hungry for eye-catching stories. There is a growing band of people whose livelihoods depend on creating and maintaining panic. There are also some who are trying to keep numbers away from your notice and others who hope that you will not make comparisons. Their stock in trade is the gratuitous lie. The aim here is to nail just a few of them.

Very good. May I?
"Approximately 80% of our air pollution stems from hydrocarbons released by vegetation, so let's not go overboard in setting and enforcing tough emission standards from man-made sources." Ronald Reagan

That's it, enough's enough, I am now on the global warming bandwagon. It's bad enough the earth may explode due to global warming but staff shortages in brothels (http://www.metro.co.uk/weird/article.html?in_article_id=39945&in_page_id=2), a decline in circumcisions (http://newsbusters.org/blogs/noel-sheppard/2007/11/02/circumcision-rates-africa-decline-because-global-warming#comments) in Africa, threats of severe acne (http://pressmediawire.com/article.cfm?articleID=4626), the Loch Ness monster dead (http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-news/2008/02/13/veteran-loch-ness-monster-hunter-gives-up-86908-20317853/)? That's just too much.

I think the scientists have definitely gotten one thing right, this list shows global warming is definitely causing brains to shrink (http://blog.wired.com/27bstroke6/2007/03/global_warming__1.html). :D
