Folic acid: 400 mcg per day for adults, 600 mcg per day for pregnant women, and 500 mcg for nursing women. Folic acid is hard to overdo.

Selenium: 65mcg for pregnant females; 75mcg for breast-feeding females.
1 gram per day for two years has produced signs of toxicity in women.
Elenium toxicity may cause gastrointestinal symptoms (nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, garlic-like breath odor, metallic taste), neuromuscular-psychiatric disturbances (weakness/fatigue, lightheadedness, irritability, hyperreflexia, muscle tenderness, tremor, peripheral neuropathy), dermatologic changes (skin rash/dermatitis/flushing, fingernail loss/thickening/blotching/streaking/paronychia, hair changes/loss), liver dysfunction, kidney dysfunction, thrombocytopenia (low blood platelets), immune alterations (natural killer cell impairment), thyroid dysfunction (decreased T3), reduced sperm motility, or growth retardation. Blood selenium levels may be used to assess the degree of toxicity, with levels below 1000mcg/L usually not associated with serious toxicity, and levels above 2000mcg/L predictive of potential serious toxicity. Chronic selenium toxicity may resemble arsenic toxicity.

Manganese: The RDA: Because there was not enough information on manganese requirements to set a Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA), the Food and Nutrition Board (FNB) of the Institute of Medicine set an adequate intake level.
Pregnancy - 2.0mg
Breastfeeding - 2.6mg

RDA for chromium has not been established.
120 microgram per day is indicated as dosage.
Toxicity and symptoms of high intake

Because chromium is not easily absorbed (chromium picolinate is the best absorbed) and since it is lost easily in the urine, toxicity does not seem to be a problem, but dermatitis has been noted, as well gastrointestinal ulcers as well as liver and kidney damage if taken in large dosages over prolonged periods.

If you are diabetic, do not supplement with chromium, as it can make your blood sugar levels drop. Some people have reported a skin rash and lightheadedness - if this occurs, stop taking the supplement and consult your medical practitione

NoHelp, I had to spread the love, but when answering questions such as this, you might want to try to make them more understandable to the general public. Not everyone understands as we do.

Your first answer was great for you and I, but just a little over the top for people who don't understand as we do.

Now, Chattede, Folic Acid is necessary in preventing neural tube defects. A neural tube defect usually deals with the spinal cord or brain. Spina Bifida is a neural tube defect.

What you need to do is take that bottle with you to your next doctor's appointment and get his/her recommendation as to whether you should continue taking that particular brand of vitamins. Most doctors prescribe a prenatal vitamin that includes the proper amount of folic acid.
