I just purchased beautiful fiberglass entry door. The door must be stained.. or must I say that I want to stain the door. I have stained wood but never fiberglass. Any tips or procedures would be appreciated. Thanks, Jerry

I think you might be in for a surprise if you try to stain fiberglass. Stain soaks into the wood fiber and then drys, it is not on top of the surface when finished. Stain can't soak into fiberglass and will dry on the surface, it will not bond. You would be much better to look into painting the door a wood color and then try to enhance the grain look with one or two darker paints that get wiped across the surface. There is even a plastic tool to create a simulated grain.

Yes, stain isn't a good option for a fiberglass door. Can't you paint it the same color as the stain you want to use? If you want it to look like wood there are woodgrain tools to like ballenger mentioned. They take a little practice to make it look good.
