Hi, I'm writing this question over since my husband writes better in spanish than english:D

Okay, our neighbor gave us this riding lawn mower. It took awhile to start only after I set the little screw on the front which I think is the float (? ). Whatever it is, when I adjusted it, my husband was able to start it. It ran but sounded to me like the timing may be off or possibly a clogged fuel line since it sputtered.

Well after that initial start, he turned it off and the next day it would not start. I mentioned to start with the small things first.

1. Cleaned fuel line and bought new fuel filter.
2. Check spark plug, and we bought brand new from auto store.
3. Take off carb and cleaned out.

Everything appears to be okay. We get a spark and it is now my understanding that gas should be getting to the spark plug which I never heard of but hubby says he read that.

Now when starting, it goes... Boom! Totally back fires like a gun shot. He keeps trying to turn it over but I mention it is only flooding it, making it harder to start up.

Anyhow... please help, he is soooo determined to get this thing running since we have some land and could really use it!

Thanks!!

That tells me it is the flywheel key sheared.
