Having converted to F1 from H1, is there a way to get a refund on the social security paid on the wages while on H1. Seems unlikely, but want to ensure that there is no caveat.

Between, should one be using the non resident forms in this case or should I continue using the resident forms for federal returns as I did on h1.

Will appreciate any guidance...

Thanks.

You won't get back FICA taxes paid during H1-B.
F1 visa is exempt from residency for 5 years. For F1 income you will get treaty benefit. You can't file resident tax return.
