Hi there,
I am F1 student who have been living in GA for almost 5 years. I tried to use Cintax software that is provided by my school, but for some reason, I was identified as Resident Alien after answering questions regarding the number of days I am present in the US.
I ended up using a free TurboTax version and ended up with a completed 1040NZ and 500NZ forms.
I know that my country of origin has some sort of tax treaty agreement for any Income below 2k. My taxable income is slightly over 3k.
Am I doing the right thing? What is the consequence of filing the wrong forms?

I'll really appreciate any answers to these

Thank you.

Even if you are nonresident, then you are not required to file tax return if your income is less than $3,400. You may need to file tax return to get refund of taxes withheld.

What is your citizenship? When did you enter the U.S. What is your current visa status?

My citizenship is Indonesia. Day of entrance = June 2002 and have never left the country yet since then. My visa status hasn't changed (F1).
My adjusted gross income is slightly over 3.8k actually from both interest and part time jobs.
