Hello - I'm in the process of finishing my basement and am running a new 20 amp circuit to about 6 outlets and then into a GFIC circuit in a bathroom. My question is if it is okay to continue the circuit from the GFIC to a set of bathroom switches controlling the bathroom vanity light and bathroom exhaust fan? Is this a violation of code (Colorado) or unsafe? Thanks

I don't have an up to date code book but I believe Stanfortyman is going to come along and say that a bathroom receptacle must be on a circuit by its self.

Well thank you for the introduction. That's a first for me. :D

You CANNOT have bath receptacles share a circuit with any other rooms, except the receptacles only in other bathrooms. If that makes any sense.

You can however share everything in ONE bathroom on one 20A circuit, such as the receptacle(s), lighting & fan. This is provided that circuit does not leave that one bath.

This is more of a common sense convenience code than a real "safety" code, but it IS code.

Run a separate 20A circuit to the bath receptacle then on to the other things.
